2,000,000 Voices

We see their images frequently via the media, but have you ever wondered what life is like as a woman in Islam? (For a more complete, and shocking, understanding, please listen to the Bible Study on Leviticus 17.)

The result of a society based on Islamic law for 1400 years in Egypt has resulted in several monumental problems:

A. Divorced women

For the reasons presented in the Bible Study, 55-60% of the marriages in Egypt
end in divorce. And out with the woman go her children…because that means
less mouths for the poor man to feed.

Where can these women and children go? Islam teaches violence and hatred and domination…not compassion and love…so there are no Islamic “charitable organizations” to help them. Nor can the divorced woman “go home” to her father because the father of a divorced woman is shamed by the culture if he takes her (his own daughter) in his home.

How do these women provide for themselves and their children – where to they find food and shelter? They “earn no wages” anymore (listen to the Leviticus 17 study). They are “deficient” and “defiled”, without respect or rights (listen to Leviticus 17).

The only option left to most – the streets…where they are easy prey for men seeking their own pleasure.

B. Children of divorced women

These children are unwanted by their fathers…little girls in particular. I have interviewed an Egyptian pharmacist who has repeatedly witnessed that a man will, with his limited funds, buy medicine for his sick cow before he will buy medicine for his sick child. When asked about their priorities, those men have all essentially said, “If the cow dies, I cannot get another cow. If the child dies, I can always have another child.”

These children are unwanted by their mothers…little girls in particular. Given her own personal situation, the divorced mothers become desperate to get off the streets and to find another husband to protect and provide food and shelter for them. They also face the reality that in a very poor country, what man is going to marry a woman with children by another man when there are plenty of single women from which to choose?

Tragically, divorced women often abandon their children in order to “compete”
with single women for husbands.

The children from broken families are thrown away…human trash left in the
streets to fend for themselves.

In Egypt, there are approximately 2,000,000 homeless orphans (5ys old and older)...
living in the streets…living in the sewers
begging for food…stealing or selling narcotics in order to eat.

With every monumental problem comes a monumental ministry opportunity.

The LORD relieves the fatherless and the widow Ps 146:9
The LORD provides: harvest of crops, olives, vineyard Deut 24:19-21
His people are the LORD’s instrument of provision Deut 14:28-29
You shall not afflict any widow or any fatherless child Ex 22:22

God loves the world’s trash! He is the God of the fatherless and widow Matt 25:31-46
If you have an opportunity to do good for someone, do it! Gal 6:10
Pure religion in the eyes of God is to care for the fatherless and widows in their affliction. James 1:27

Much of Islamic culture is a mystery to the Western world. And the world is deceived by Islam. So the governments of the world will not help these children…who are precious treasure in God’s eyes.

Jesus Christ, the Holy One of Israel who promised to not leave us as orphans, is the only answer, the only hope. He indwells us…the Church MUST respond! To NOT respond is tantamount to afflicting the orphans and widows!

The LORD has given me a vision: A Lighthouse in that desert in the midst of the world’s
greatest evil…a vision to go to Egypt to build and operate:

• Orphanages…to feed, clothe, shelter, and love in Jesus’ name unwanted children
• Soup Kitchen to feed street/sewer kids…until we have more orphanages
• “Adoption” Agency to rescue “human trash”
• Women’s Shelter to given divorced women a dignified alternative
• Pastoral training center for the underground church to teach the Word of God and to equip pastors to plant more churches

A ministry like this needs 4 kinds of people:
• people to go…a woman must go (little girls, divorced women), a couple must go
• people to send/support…provide financially from their abundance to buy land, to build buildings, and to meet operating expenses of ministry and ministers
• people to administer here in Arizona
• people to pray without ceasing

Pray about what the LORD wants you to do…personally.
This cannot be an emotional knee-jerk reaction…it will not last.
This cannot be a work of the flesh…it will not last.
This MUST be Spirit-led…it will be eternally fruitful.

Do you hear the voice of the LORD: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?”

We are being presented with an incredible opportunity…a profound act of love for our LORD and Savior (Matt 25:31-46). How will we respond…individually and corporately?

We are hindered only by ourselves…our unbelief, fear, unfaithfulness, and conditional love for the One Who loves us unconditionally.

I plead with all of you:
• Seek the LORD regarding what He wants you to do…your gift, your calling
• Be still…listen to His small still voice speaking to your heart
• Obey…follow Jesus.

EVERY day…more kids are being thrown away in the streets of Cairo

2,000,000 voices...and One Still Small Voice...are asking if our words of devotion to Jesus Christ are genuine.

If the LORD leads you to participate in one or more of the four ways listed above as we pursue the heart of the Father, please contact Pastor Doug. (PastorDoug@CalvaryChapelAhwatukee.com).

May the LORD richly bless you!
